Mischa Barton Has Reportedly Been Hospitalized For a Voluntary Mental Evalution

Mischa Barton was reportedly hospitalized on Thursday after a bizarre incident at her LA home. TMZ was first to report that the former O.C. star was taken to a nearby facility after neighbors became concerned with her odd behavior; photos obtained by the outlet show Mischa wearing an oversize shirt and tie, shouting over the fence of her home in West Hollywood. According to onlookers, she fell backward over the fence and was heard yelling, "Oh my God, it's over! I feel it, and it's angry!" She was also reportedly rambling about her mother being a witch and "the world shattering." Law enforcement and firefighters were called, at which time Mischa voluntarily went to the hospital for a mental evaluation.

Mischa was previously placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold in June 2009 after experiencing "a full-on breakdown," which she opened up about in an interview with People four years later. "I was under enormous pressure," she explained. In 2015, news broke that Mischa had filed a lawsuit against her mother, Nuala, whom she called a "greedy stage mother" and accused of posing as her talent manager and scheming to "defraud her unsuspecting victim." Things seemed to be on the up and up for the actress, who attended a number of red carpet events and appeared on Dancing With the Stars in 2016, though she slammed her time on the show and compared it to The Hunger Games. "It wasn't collaborative like a choreographer on a film set . . . I was so confused by it. It was like The Hunger Games. It was all a popularity contest. It was awful. I was so glad to get kicked off," she said in a December interview.
